CBI AND GUILFORD TECHNICAL COMMUNITY COLLEGE SIGN AN AFFILIATE AGREEMENT
On February 22nd, 2024, the Carolina Battery Institute (CBI) and Rockingham Community College (RCC) officially entered into a Community Benefits Agreement. Rockingham Community College is located in a Tier 1 county, positioned within an Economically Distressed and Disadvantaged Rural community. Rockingham Community College has a significant impact on education and workforce training in the region due to being the only college in Rockingham County, NC. CBI and RCC have agreed to collaborate on fostering a new battery belt in North Carolina by bridging the gap between job seekers and employers. This initiative aims to expand career pathways and enhance equitable job accessibility for local residents in Rockingham County. CBI will offer industry-scale and hands-on lithium-ion battery training courses, including battery manufacturing with laser/ultrasonic welding, quality control, and testing, in partnership with RCC.
RCC is the third community college to partner with CBI. Their involvement creates a strong triangular support structure for CBI’s workforce development activities in the Piedmont area.
